1. Look at the price. The price of good quality quartz stone is generally above 55 US dollars, and the cheapest one is around 50 US dollars. But not all quartz stones above $50 are good, so you need to shop around, and merchants who fight price wars may use inferior artificial marble as quartz stones.
2. Identify with white vinegar or oxalic acid High-quality quartz stones should contain more than 93% of quartz crystals, and will not chemically react with acidic substances, while poor-quality quartz stones contain more calcium substances, which will react with acids and produce air bubbles.
3. Use a blade or a key to scratch and observe the scratches
The main component of quartz stone is made of quartz sand, which is silicon dioxide. In nature, the hardness is equivalent to that of diamonds. Good-quality quartz stones will only have fine scratches after being scraped with a key or a knife. After scrubbing, there will be no scratches. Obviously, poor quartz stone countertops contain calcium powder and other inferior materials. If they are scraped with a key, there will be white powder and obvious scratches.
4. Roast with fire
Quartz stone has high temperature resistance properties. After burning it with a lighter for a while, it is generally high-quality quartz stone that can be cleaned with water. On the contrary, it is inferior quartz stone.
